Mama Mia and Sound engineer

Today is a red letter day. I saw that chikoo recognises his mother. Not only that he shows a distinct preference for her company. It is so fascinating that just on the day he completed 4 months, his bonding with his mother is complete!

He was lying on my lap and D crossed over to the other side of the room, his eyes followed her and he was actually calling out to her. Well, his tone was so different from any other sound he was making, that words were just useless. He made it very clear to me and D that he wants her around and prefers her company! How wonderful.

And Chik had reserved his fitting finale to a grand day. D was climbing the stairs to take him to the first floor and just turned a wee bit to see if his head is straight. She felt a wet something touch her cheek and yes she had got her first kiss!Full of saliva and a drooling babe to boot!

And he has a rare smile, usually reserved for D that starts in his eyes and travels all over his face and body upto his little toe, and he curls his body and lets out a shy smile. D is absolutely fascinated with that one.

Who says that babies cant talk? They keep talking all the time. The types of sounds they make, for what they need at that time, does not give any room for any ambiguity. Take tonight for example. D was  sitting next to him and having her dinner. She got up to wash her plate. I had just then come near him and he made such a pleading sound, which was so new and I had not heard from him till now. He is not able to raise his hands to ask to be lifted up. But his hands made a small movement and his tone left me in no doubt that he wanted me to lift him. I was fascinated and called out to D. She also came over and watched his body language and tone which were a set of new 'words' that he had picked up. When he saw that we were just hovering around and looking and smiling at him, but doing nothing about it, he let out a BIG yell. Nothing new there. It says I am annoyed with a capital A. I  picked  him up and he was immediately soothed and happy.

He now joins us in conversation. We tell him something and he makes some sounds and then we say something again and he waits for a pause and eggs us on with 'and then'. He will keep flashing toothless grins all the time. This has been going on for a few weeks now, so we are now quite sure that he is quite an integral part of the conversation. If you have any doubt, try leaving him out. He will aggressively muscle his way in, like a typical union leader that we are used to at work.
