Move over movie songs
Movie songs reflect the current trends in society. Hence it is no surprise that lyricists are naturally inserting names of technology companies in their compositions.NOKIA has made it to that hallowed space in "Anniyan" a latest hit tamil movie. It is almost every morning that one gets to hear it in the top ten hits in tamil cinema.Of course one hears it in the afternoon /evening/night too.But then one is busy being 'vigilant' to be distracted with these songs.I have truly become addicted to this song.
NOKIA is setting up a huge establishment off Chennai and the pace of work is unbelievable.News of the company setting up shop has not yet died down and they are proclaiming to start operations by mid 2006!Mind boggling.
Hence when it is now announced that CISCO is setting up a $1 Billion establishment in India , which could be the greatest off shore facility for them,I immediately thought of words rhyming with cisco in Tamil lexicon of movie songs. But then it need not be tamil words; nokia rhymes with the word mafia in that particular song.So any other language will do..Scratch,scratch..
There is another trend discernible among tamil movie song writers of late. They are the purists who swear by the beautiful/resourceful language. All that one would want to express in a Tamil movie is available there and some to spare they claim.
CISCO will not be a part of their lyrics, i bet.

but I think the poet might nt thought its a company name. Its ther a tamil word as I known "Nokia" means "did u seen?" like that
hey thats an interesting way of looking at it, though even with creative license, it makes no sense to say kannum kannum nokia, nee kollai kollum mafia.
disco rhymes beautifully with Cisco. How did i not think of that. And disco is eminently suitable "tamil" word these days, atleast in entertainment/movie business.
The tamil purists have recently come out with a whole set of names for boys and girls;beautiful tamilnames;kumidini,maivizhgi....A compendium should hit the bookstands soon...
